Redwood City, CA and MWC Barcelona February 25, 2014: Altran, a premier engineering services and software company, today launched an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core software framework called IMSLite. IMSLite is a complete IP core network solution that enables IP calls, multimedia services and can be leveraged to support VoLTE services.
IMSLite is a collapsed IMS core hosting proxy, interrogating, and serving Call Session Control Functions (P, I, and S-CSCF) that makes it a complete high-performance solution. It can run on any commercial off the shelf hardware in a native Linux or any virtualized environment with load balancers handling loads across multiple instances. This makes it ready for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) deployment, which helps in reducing equipment and operational costs while shortening the time needed to introduce new services.
Targeted at niche low and mid-subscribers’ markets such as public safety and defense, IMSLite supports carrier-grade features like emergency services; load balancing, avalanche handling, overload, and admission control.
“IMS paves the way to an all IP core and is the preferred network node for LTE networks offering VoLTE and multimedia services,” said Pratyush Dasgupta, Vice President at Altran. “Altran IMSLite helps equipment vendors quickly build robust IMS systems on any generic hardware platform, drastically reducing their product cost while accelerating time to market for new products.”
IMSLite can also be placed along with Altran EPCLite, a highly mature, field deployed and interoperable Evolved Packet Core (EPC) software offering for supporting network-in-a-box solution. It also supports IPSec connections with IMS clients for deployment in non-secured networks. It is compliant with GSMA VoLTE IR-92 version 5 specifications as well as 3GPP release 11 specifications.
