The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has specified a new radio interface, the Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) to address the requirements of increasing IoT devices. This new technology provides support for massive number of low throughput devices, low delay sensitivity, ultra-low device cost and low device power consumption. The Altran C-SGN is a collapsed solution combining MME, SGW and PGW functions into a single optimized solution. It provides improved support for small data transfer by performing control-plane and user-plane optimizations. Altran C-SGN supports control plane optimization which is a method for transferring user data in Control Plane signaling messages in the form of NAS PDU. This software framework enables OEM/NEP to reduce time to market in fast growing CIoT market.
